How to use the SSL Online Licence Centre

Duende Native encryption is based upon ‘Codemeter’, a system supplied by ‘WIBU Systems’. This system is also used by other audio industry products including Magix ‘Seqouia’, Propellerheads ‘Record’ and Algorithmix plug-ins.

The Codemeter system supports two different types of copy protection device (dongle); a software only virtual device and a USB hardware device (much like an iLok or any other USB dongle). WIBU refer to both of these devices as a ‘Codemeter Stick’ or ‘CmStick’. They call the software only virtual device a ‘CmAct’ and they call the USB hardware device a ‘Codemeter’. The activation of Licences is handled by our online Licence administration interface, the SSL Online Licence Centre.

Note: Java is required for use of the SSL Online Licence Centre

When you arrive at the SSL Online Licence Centre you see this interface:

SSL Licence Centre

Plug-in Activation requires the computer on which you have installed your SSL software to be connected to the internet. The generation of your individual Product Licence(s) takes place automatically over the internet. Your computer is profiled and your Product Licence(s) are created and activated on your computer automatically by the SSL Online Licence Centre communicating over the internet with the SSL software installed on your computer.

Note: There is no activation method available that does not require access to the internet and communication with the SSL Online Licence Centre.

Step By Step Online Activation

Under the heading ‘Your Licences’ you can see a list of all of the Licences available for activation. The content of this list will depend upon which products you have purchased Licences for (or demo Licences you are eligible for).

1. Select the copy protection device which you would like to activate the Software for

  • At the top of the screen you can see a pull down menu labelled ‘CmStick’
  • When you installed your SSL software you also installed a free ‘CmAct’ software only virtual dongle. If you have purchased a ‘Codemeter’ hardware dongle please click here and follow the installation instructions
  • The system automatically detects any hardware or virtual CmSticks attached to your computer. These are then presented in the ‘CmStick’ pull down selection menu
  • You must select a CmStick and you can only select one CmStick from the list
  • If you only have a CmAct software only virtual dongle it is selected by default
  • Virtual and hardware CmSticks are distinguished by their serial number
  • A virtual CmAct has a serial number with five numbers followed by a hyphen then a string of numbers… like this ‘32767-12345’
  • A hardware Codemeter has a serial number with a single number followed by a hyphen then a string of numbers… like this ‘1-12345’

2. Activate your Plug-in Licences

You have two choices; you can either activate all of your Plug-in Licences in a single operation or you can activate them individually

  • To activate all your Plug-ins at once; simply hit the big button which says ‘Activate All My Licences’
  • Please wait whilst the installer activates all of your Licences. Do not navigate away from this web page or close your internet browser whilst the Activation is happening
  • When the process is complete the status of your Plug-ins will change to ‘Activated’
  • To activate your Plug-ins one at a time; select the Plug-in you want to activate from the ‘Your Licences’ list and click on the word ‘Activate’
  • Please wait whilst the installer activates your selected Licence. Do not navigate away from this web page or close your internet browser whilst the Activation is happening
  • When the process is complete the status of your selected Plug-in will change to ‘Activated’

Licence De-Activation

The Licence De-Activation mechanism is provided to enable users to move their Licence from a software only CmAct virtual dongle to a Codemeter hardware dongle. The mechanism can also be used during system upgrades/recovery where you need to replace a major computer hardware component (CPU, Motherboard, HD etc). In both scenarios the process is the same; you must De-Activate your current Licences because they are specific to both your Dongle type and your computer hardware configuration. When you have De-Activated a Licence you will find that it’s status on your My Products page changes from ‘Activated’ to ‘Activate’. To Re-Activate a Licence on your new dongle or on your new computer simply hit the ‘Activate’ link and follow the instructions. Note you are limited to a total of three De-Activations per plug-in, the mechanism cannot be used as a method of regular Licence transferral between computers.

How to De-Activate a Licence;

  • Log in to your My SSL Profile and navigate to your My Products page
  • Select the plug-in which you need to De-Activate
  • Hit the ‘De-Activate’ link
  • Proceed to the SSL Licence Centre
  • You will see your selected plug-in listed with a – De-Activate suffix in its name
  • Click on Activate
  • Wait for the process to complete
  • Return to your My Products page and proceed with Re-Activation
