Creating a Compact Flash Installation disk using WinImage


  1. Download the compressed installation disk image onto your personal computer and decompress the zipped file. This will result in a single Virtual Disk Image file (.vhd).
  2. Insert a 1GB or 2GB Compact Flash into your personal computer’s card reader. Please note that this process will overwrite any data on the Compact Flash card.
  3. Launch WimImage and select ‘Restore Virtual Disk Image on to Physical Drive…’ in the Disk menu.
  4. WinImage: Restore Virtual Disk Image
  5. In the resulting drive selection window, select the destination Compact Flash card and click on OK.
  6. WinImage: Select the destination Compact Flash card
  7. In the resulting file selection window, select the software disk image to be restored and then click on open.
  8. WinImage: Select the software disk image to be restored
  9. Click on OK in the resulting warning dialogue window if you are happy to overwrite your Compact Flash card.
  10. WinImage: Click OK to overwrite your Compact Flash card
  11. The image will now be written to the Compact Flash card. This will take approximately 30 seconds.
  12. WinImage: The image will now be written to the Compact Flash card
  13. Once complete, you can remove the Compact Flash card from your reader. Please ensure you have the required licence string for this version of software and that you follow the installation instructions when installing the new version.
